A Gold Certification Workshop is being offered by the Mystery Shopping Providers Association (MSPA), the largest professional trade association dedicated to improving service quality using anonymous resources, on Saturday, October 16, in Newark, N.J.

The goal of the Gold Certification Workshop is to improve the quality of mystery shoppers, which helps the companies for which they are conducting service assessments and ultimately improves the experience of the end consumer. Being MSPA-gold certified indicates to companies that these individuals have been trained in the essentials of mystery shopping.

The workshop is best suited to experienced shoppers who have already achieved MSPA Silver Certification; however, it is open to anyone who is willing to become silver certified. The Silver Certification Program is an online course that consists of three stages and takes approximately one hour to complete. The certification course Web site is http://www.mysteryshop.org/silver.php.

MSPA first began certifying mystery shoppers in 2002. To date, more than 18,304 individuals have been silver certified and more than 1,696 have been gold certified by the MSPA.

The New York City area offering of the certification program is sponsored by several member companies, including ICC Decision Services (Wayne, N.J.); Kern Scheduling Services (Tucson, Ariz.), and Roper NOP World (New York, N.Y).
